Desitin works...

My pumpkin has a diaper rash and I tried multiple products to try to get rid of it. I started with Vaseline but after a day, it didn't seem like it was working as fast as I hoped. Then, I moved on to the A+D Ointment. It says on the package that it's great for healing rashes and chafed skin but it also didn't work for my daughter. It appears the rash was spreading to her legs as well. Now, I moved on to Desitin Maximum Strength. Most mothers I spoke to swear by this product so I bought a big 16oz jar in hopes this would be the answer. From what I can see so far, it seems to be drying up the rash but it's not gone completely. I believe tomorrow she would have had the rash for a week now. I'm so hard on myself about this because 1) I feel like I'm neglecting my daughter because she has had back to back issues. 2) The rash looks so irritating so I just want to clear it up as soon as possible. Question for you moms out there...how long does it usually take a rash to heal?

Upon googling the question, I notice from baby center.com that it is common for babies to get diaper rashes. They are mostly caused by wetness, new food, chafing or chemical sensitivity, and antibiotics. I have a theory that it's because Bri was taking Amoxocillin but does that qualify as a antibiotic? A diaper rash should be healed and go within 3 days if it is taken care of properly. However, according to bonny babies.com, rashes can take weeks to heal. It is advised to seek a medical professional after a week of an unhealed rash or it becomes worse with blisters or pimples.

In order to brighten things up, check out my honey applying Desitin all on her own.
