This past weekend we took our daughter to get her ear's pierced. We went to a kiosk in the middle of the mall at Coral Square. Her father really didn't want to get them done but I guess he was there for moral support. Brielle was not having it! She was wiggling as the associate did the little dot with the marker. And when it was time for the actual piercing? Well let's just say...She CRIED. It pained and humored me all at the same time to hear my little sweetie wailed in agony. But as soon as it was over and I picked her up, she stopped crying. In essence, she took it like a champ being that she only cried for a short period of time. Even now, my daughter barely knows the piercing exists, except for when I go to clean it twice a day. She feels the cold wet cleansing solution rubbing against her ears. Thinking back to that as I walked away from the stand, holding my baby in hand. I couldn't help but feel guilty. Guilty for putting my precious through that ordeal. It's like, why should we as parents voluntarily put our children through unnecessary pain? It's a question I have yet to answer. So if I had the opportunity, would I do it again? I'm not sure. Maybe.
