Three weeks in and my daughter has had some issues with colic and hunger.
First, colic is usually something associated with newborns and she was no exception. She would have a lot of gas, even crying after she pooped. It got so bad that Daddy B often had to rub her butt in order for her to calm down. I can't imagine how colic must feel but from observing her, it was nothing nice.
Next issue was hunger. Every time my daughter cried, I had to wonder whether Brielle was actually hungry or just fussy. My family was so paranoid. See they have this theory that all babies need in the early stages of life is real food. Their idea of food was adding cereal to the milk to give it a thicker consistency. I was hesitant because she was only a few weeks old and I wasn't sure if that was best for her.
And the doctor said…
I asked the doctor about my baby's problems and she gave me some helpful suggestions. To reduce the colic and gas, she recommended that I feed her more often, instead of every two hours, do every one and a half. Another solution she gave me was to stay away from dairy until about my daughter turned three months. She mentioned how babies have a hard time digesting it and it could provide relief to her if I stayed away from it(mainly because I'm breastfeeding and she intakes whatever I consume). As for the hunger, she reiterated like before, I could just adjust the feeding times.
Results...I must say that although the suggestions of the doctor didn't resolve the issues completely. However, it did minimize the effects.
