Healthy Choices...

I encounter backlash everyday because of the life choices I choose for my daughter. I have made the conscious decision from the birth of my princess to nourish her the best way possible. Some things I try to stand firm by is not giving her fried, processed, or sugary foods. This is an extremely hard task because there are so many fast food choices single mothers like me might be subject due to their convenience. Don't get me wrong, I'm not perfect and sometimes I do have divert from my plan and I'll give her a microwavable dinner here and then a capri sun there. It seems at every family event I have been to with my daughter, I have to debate about my beliefs and fight with my family because I don't want her having cake or cookies. My cousin even went as far as telling me that I'm going to make Bri a binge eater because I'm withholding her from all the 'good' stuff. She went on to say that when Bri eventually is able to make her own decisions she is going to overindulge. I can't even lie that it pisses me off because everyone is entitled to make her their own life choices. As a black overweight woman, I know about our statistics, we have the highest rate of being overweight. While being overweight, we have the highest probability of diabetes and heart disease. Personally, I don't make the best choices on a day to day basis but I want better for my daughter. I want to ensure her the best healthiest life as possible. And if that's wrong, I don't want to be right. The following are my main staples that are a must for my cupcake. :)

Healthy choices:
Fresh Fruit and Vegetables
Organic Milk
Whole Wheat/Whole Grain Bread
Natural Juices

I think it's fantastic you are trying to better for your daughter by making her eat as healthy as possible. "Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it." Proverbs 22:6
